The mission of LYTE is to increase access to top performing high schools through knowledge and leadership. It is extremely important to us that our scholars are advocates for themselves and their communities.
This summer, students chose topics that they felt were a major part of their lives. They chose community violence, education, and pollution. Students wrote research papers, created trifolds, and made powerpoints and websites. Current students received a great deal of help from alumni of the program who volunteered their time. Students presented their work to parents, community members and school leaders.
The work that students created for this project reflect the type of research, critical thinking, and presentations that they will be expected to do in high school. The resulting confidence they get from working as a group and presenting produces significant results.
